Maria Lynch (b. 1981, Brazil) is a multimedia artist based between New York and Rio de Janeiro. Imbued with a soft playfulness and a sense of childhood fantasy, her wide ranging artistic practice explores the realities and fictions of the psyche. Through painting, video, installation, music, and performance, Lynch brings together an assemblage of deconstructed memories, and non-linear narratives to set a stage for the amorphous and sensual aspects of the unconscious.

Lynch received her MA and Post-Graduate Diploma from Chelsea College of Art and Design in London, UK. She has exhibited internationally with selected solo exhibitions at Wilding Cran Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; Blau Projects, Sao Paolo, Brazil; O grande Campo-Oi Futuro, Rio de Janiero, Brazil; New Museum, New York, NY; Anita Schwartz, Rio de Janeiro Brazil Ocasião; Rooster Gallery, New York; and The Museum of Modern Art, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her work is held in the collections of Mulheres na Coleção MAR; Ministério das Relações Exteriores, Palácio do Itamaraty; Coleção Gilberto Chateaubriand, MAM; Centro Cultural Candido Mendes; Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Niterói; Committee for Olympic Fine Arts; BGA Collection, Brazil, and others.
